Seminar at Savar
ADAB Dhaka District committee organized a seminar on “National Women Development Policy-2011” at VARC auditorium, Anandapur, Savar on 24 November 2014. The seminar was graced by the Member of the National Parliament Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman. Al-haz Md. Kafil Uddin, Chairman, Savar Upazila, Mr. Ashraf Uddin Khan (Emu), renowned freedom fighter and former Member of the National Parliament, Ms. Khaleda Akter Jahan, Women Affairs Officer of Savar Upazila, Mr. Shaikh Abdul Halim, Executive Director of VARC and EC Member of ADAB spoke on the seminar.
Seminar on ‘National Women Policy 2011’ at Savar
Mr. AKM Jashim Uddin, Director ADAB was also present in the seminar as special guest. The seminar was chaired by Mr. Yeakub Hossain, Deputy Director of VARC and Chairman ADAB Dhaka District Committee. In the seminar the ‘National Women Policy 2011’ was presented by Ms. Sultana Afroza, Asst. Coordinator, Training and Communication section of VARC through multimedia projector. Representative of civil society, Government Official, Media personnel, Teachers, Lawyers, NGO representative were gathered in the seminar. The initiative of ADAB to organize such seminar is highly appreciated by the folk.
The recommendations and opinions which came out from this seminar are:
- To organize this type of seminar at village level
- To give more importance to women education
- To ensure security of women in day to day life
- To increase reserved sits for women in the National Parliament to 40% instead of 33%
- To add the value of house hold work of women in GDP
- To include women representative in different development work
- To ensure the environment of education for women up to graduation
- To take necessary steps to stop violence against women at family level
